posted by RestorePS, May 20, 2013 12:30 PM — 2 commentsIn a world of modern photography and endless digital advances is the printed photo on the proverbial cliff edge? I hold my hands up and confirm that the vast amount of photos I take are stored on memory cards, hard drives or cameras themselves and I know many of my colleagues and friends do the same. But is that best practice? I think not.

3 simple steps to better photos
posted by TFawls, May 13, 2013 11:36 AM — 2 commentsI wrote the following in response to a request for help from a sculptor who wanted to take his own portfolio photos of his "too-large-to-bring-to-an-interview" creations. He had sent a few of his images and he was rightly concerned that they did not show his work in the best light (in other words, while his sculptures were great, his photos were horrible!).

posted by nezbitten, Apr 15, 2013 8:00 AM — 0 commentsCould this be a new discovery of an original Daguerreotype of the young Abraham Lincoln?
A newly discovered Daguerreotype was found by Justin Whiting of, Norwich Norfolk United Kingdom, could be a new photographic piece in Abraham Lincoln's historic life story.
Purchased on Ebay from a power seller of Daguerreotypes Justin was sure it reminded him of someone. He'd been searching for an image like this for sometime. In his mind it could be no one else other than a young Abraham Lincoln!

Photography via window light on an overcast day wi

Taking photos during an overcast day presents the option of using very soft light through the windows, it’s like someone put a huge softbox in the street and you are able to aim it indoors. Here is an example of light coming from the window with and without the use of reflector to bounce the light and fill the shadows.

Hi,
Thank you for sharing your photos.
I'm creating a website for my new B'n'B in the Czech Republic and am considering using your bike photo as an inspiration image for what activities the guests can engage in.
However, the image is too small. I need at least 3Mb for my graphic designer to be able to work with it. Is it possible to obtain a good quality high resolution image?
Thank you,
Smidulenka
