FlashZoomer Wordpress Integration

posted by leto, May 19, 2008 5:27 PM — 3 comments

First you need to download the Flash Zoomer: http://www.yofla.com/flash/flash-zoomer/

If you like, you can modify the size, colors or icons of the zoomer before you use it.

The most important part is to make your blog capable of displaying swf files. If you have not installed plugin which does this, I recommend installing the WP-SWFObject, which you can download from here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-swfobject/

After you have the plugin installed, you need to upload the flashzoomer.swf to your blog. Pick any location you like, I have created a new folder named "flashzoomer" inside the plugins folder.

The final step is to display the flashzoomer in your post. It is very simple, you just add this piece of code. Don't be afraid, I explain it:

[SWF]/wp-content/plugins/flashzoomer/flashZoomer.swf, 400, 300, imgSrc=http://flashblog.yofla.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/sample.jpg&startState=move&maxZoom=200[/SWF]

The SWF tag takes 4 parameters.

The first is path to where you have uploaded the flashZoomer.swf

The second is height of your swf movie

The third is the width of your swf movie

The fourth are the flashVars parameters.

Flashvar Parameters

only imgSrc is required - it is the source of the image. You can insert the url from the media gallery as I did, or use just the relative path to the picture.

The startState and maxZoom parameters are optional, you don't need to provide them if you don't need to modify them.

You can also use relative path to the image.

Hi, I'm setting up a new website for linking up families/carers of people with disabilities and want to use your photo: Family tickling each other on one of the pages (It would be the photo that accompanies the "Families Journeys" page. Would you permit that?
Many thanks!
