Pocket Tricks : Smile , White Teeth
posted by ugaldew, May 17, 2006 5:51 PM — 34 commentsThis is a very short but useful trick in Photoshop , ( 2 minutes max) , That will whiten those ugly yellow teeth. (It is good to keep in mind that sometimes we have this effect because of the lighting besides the usual reasons of course . )

So Lets Get Started !
________________________________________________________
>> Step 1
Open your desired portrait and select the teeth area, , you can do it with your favorite tool , but I recommend the “Polygonal Lasso Tool “ (In the Tool Panel ) , as you can see in the sample, it is not a surgery test , the selection doesn’t require great accuracy, however try, to not select the lips or gum
________________________________________________________
>> Step 2
open the “hue/saturation panel“ ( image / adjust / hue&saturation ) ,
once we have reached it , we have to click the “edit box ” and change it to “Yellow” (this is very important cause the yellows chanel is the responisble for the ugly effect .
The Next is "desaturate" it until you get your desired whiteness
Tip : Do not abuse the whiteness because, the teeth may wont look real or out of place, you can also modify the lightness , so the teeth get whiter
The final work should look like this :

Another example
Tip : I have used this technique in eyes , with good results
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial as much as I did doing it , please let me know if you find any misuse of the language or if you didn’t get any part of the process

Hi ! I came just by and thought, give another comment... It is that good. It is, because we do not almost notice it conciously, but on the unconcious side, there is a big difference, on how "white" the teeth are... YOUR TRICK RULES. get a ten from me!

It also works, if you use your desk-lamp to illuminate an photo just for kind of ebay.
Of course you should have switched the balancing of white from natural lighting to artificial light, but who cares about something like that when he's concentrated to get the perfect shot?
Well .. the light red or blue (depends on land you're living in and price of lamp) is not perfect, so remove it like shown in this tutorial!
great work

Wow! everybody like sparkling teeth!
Me too - but I have added one more feature with the white-sparkling teeth; that is crispy lips!
Want to see the example : please, go to my site : http://www.PixelToPixel.com or short-cut to the following link:

Tell me which trick I have used to make sparkling teeth and crispy lips just in two steps!
I will be back!

You can also use the sponge tool and choose destaturate as mode and it will give almost the same effect; quite good if you are in a hurry...
