Overcoming Anxiety

posted by Avolore, Jun 28, 2006 5:51 AM — 4 comments

Photography allows one to capture the nature and emotion of a moment in time. Good photography manages to capture that moment in a way which is meaningful to others.

I suppose that is why I am mesmerized by both others results and the very action of taking pictures – my moment becomes someone else’s. Perhaps my moment even helps someone finish a project, or inspires someone to write a story. Each time my moment is shared, it becomes part of a larger moment.

Onward, to the real point:

Today, I feel like a
real
photographer. Today, I got my first ever model release signed. It was a picture of a child and I was certain the parents wouldn’t allow me to use it, but they did! My hands shook for an hour afterwards and I held the piece of paper as if it was made of gold. It’s in my Mother’s filing system because I refuse to loose it. I think I made about five copies.

The next one should seem easy enough, right?

up till now i have used my sisters, and then my mom signs them. Also building the courage to go ask the countless parents for releases :) did you offer compensation ?

I had already given them the print, of course, and also made sure they knew they could ask for it again. Unfortunately, I don't have any siblings who would be willing to let me take photos. It's only my older brother. If I got a photo of him it would be a miracle. :)

Thank you so much for commenting!

I still haven't done any people shots.

I'm sure it's a good feeling though!
