Ahh, I think I know this one.

I had the same problem with my R300.

If the same problem I had, it's to do with the old printer driver your using not being compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 2.

The good news, (if this is the problem), is it's easy to sort. Simply go to Epson's web site and download the latest drivers for your printer, unistal the old, and reinstall the new.

I had this problem last Christmas and it took me ages to figure out. I was quite pissed at this as Epsom must have know about it, yet still shipped printers with old drivers, despite SP2 being out for quite a while.

The golden rule I've put in place now is never to install drivers from the disks they give you, instead DL the latest from the manufactures web site.

OK so I tried updating the driver from Epson's website. 2 things happened:
first there was no change in the printing, ie. in Word the print was perfect and in Photoshop it was still too dark; and second my CD printing facility stopped working all together. I ended up re-installing the original disks and returning to the original status quo. My intention, now is twofold: 1) to send copies of the differences to Digital Photo magazine and see if they will run an article on it and 2) e-mail Epson and see if they can come up with an explanation. Watch this space.
