I avatar, therefore I am
posted by tialush, Oct 25, 2006 7:29 PM — 5 commentsAn idea kidnapped from a comment by juliaf on the forum...
So, let me tell you about my avatar and why it came to light. Moment caught with my baby daughter (1 year and 14 days old at the time of this post), she does the best "I'm crying and I really mean it this time, honest....but....oooh look a new toy!" face.
Her daddy and I can't help laughing at her when she pulls the face, so darn cute. Does it make us cruel parents?!?

Avatar:
"somebody who embodies, personifies, or is the manifestation of an idea or concept"
or
"computing a movable three-dimensional image that can be used to represent somebody in cyberspace, for example an Internet user"
Honestly I though it was a self portrait thing!

Mine's just a photo of me, hopefully as flattering as possible... and recently changed so as not to be confused with Jonra's! ;)

AVATAR is actually a Hindi word (main language of India). Its means the reincarnation of God in human or animal form to wipe out the evil from earth from time to time. This word has been adapted in English with some variations but the soul of every meaning is the same.

I didn't realise that we would dig so deep with the avatar subject, and here's me with my frivolous story :)
Thanks guys!

Well, my avatar is a photo of me at about ten years old (I'm a wee bit older now...), it reminds me of my childhood wonder and curiosity at the many fascinating things in the natural world. Photography brings out that child in me. (ok, now bring on the violins...).
