THE NEED FOR (PS) SPEED!
posted by pixelbase, Jan 19, 2007 3:28 AM — 12 commentsClick on the Pixel Doubling box in Preferences > Display & Cursors to double the size of the pixels in a screen redraw (halving the resolution).
After the redraw, it restores the pixel depth.
This is very useful on large files (or photos), especially if PS is using the scratch disk.
This has no effect on the actual pixels used in your image (it only effects the preview).

Hmm, I don't see this option on PS10... shame too, since I work with very huge freakin files a lot. It's possible that I just missed the option, but I don't think so... I searched pretty thoroughly.
Anyway, thanks for the tip.

I have cs3 and i couldnt find it,
I was searching and searching until i found this on a website: and Adobe has removed the "Use Pixel Doubling" option completely in CS3, since no one knew what it was for anyway.
so for all the cs3 users dont bother

We can have photoshop bring back pixel doubling in the next version. We just need to submit it in their request form. You don't even need to own photoshop to do it. I recommend everyone contribute to the community.

Hi there!
Your photo of the Little girl by window is truly inspiring. I would like to use this picture for a website specializing in publishing quality e-books for parents and children up to 11 years of age.
My website is http://www.brainycon- nections.com/
