Gadget for the Addicts
posted by hcmlopes, Apr 5, 2007 3:48 PM — 4 commentsI posted in the forums that I was making a google gadget and requested some help but it seems nobody took any interest in it. Since I thought it was a good idea and it would help spread the word about SXC I decided to learn how to make it work.
What does it look like ?

What does it do?
- It load random images of our Certified Users just like the site's front page does
- It allows you to search from your google page just like if you were on the web site
- Opens on a "tab" or new window if tabs are disabled
- Makes me look cool as hell 'cause I did it on my own ;)
How can I get this wonderful tool
Click Here for google's personilize page service
And Here for the gadget's direct link
I hope you guys enjoy. I was up untill 2am learning how to make this [moderated] ;)
Thanks, hcmlopes

Is it possible to modify the gadget to display a category other that certified users? It would be nice to be able to display "Recently Added Images", 'Highest Rated Images, or any of the of the other categories in the images drop down box. Being able to select a specific member for display would be fantastic also.

Any of those features are very much possible and great ideas. I will look into what I can do on my own since for such dynamic features I would need to pull data from the server or find a way to get around it like I did it. I'll get back to you guys if I figure anything out
