While I was thinking of doing this operation, some questions came up.
1. Why is the cardboard needed?
2. Does the Color of the Cardboard make any difference?
3. Are there photos on the web that were taken with this Pin Hole set up?
4. When I turn my digital camera on, the zoom comes out. If I have the cap on, I will get an error noise and the camera shuts down. Is this Pin Hole tutorial only for non digital cameras?

cwalden...
A camera body cap is the cap for the body, not for the lens. You're using a point and shoot and buzzybee is talking about a digital slr.

Hi,
Yes, you definitely need an SLR camera to do this, but either digital or film SLR is fine. With digital you can obviously experiment more easily which is great.
To answer your questions:
1. The cardboard is used as it is virtually impossible to get a pin hole sized hole (

Sorry, it didn't like me saying < 1mm! It saw it as coding, so hopefully the rest of this answer works...

1. The reason you use the cardboard is because it's virtually impossible to drill a needle sized hole through a thick plastic camera body cap, unless you have specialised equipment. By making a larger hole in the cap, you can overlay this with the cardboard in which you've made a needle hole. Make sure the holes in the cardboard and the cap line up!
2. The colour isn't important, although I used black cardboard.
3. No, not yet... but keep your eye on my gallery over this coming week.
4. You definitely need an SLR... don't even attempt to try this with a point and shoot!
Good luck, and if you need any further help, just drop me a line.
Happy Experimenting!
