posted by robgr85, May 9, 2007 1:33 AM — 20 commentsHi!
Just made my first macro lens, do not laugh at me :) From time to time I like to do something by myself. It's time for macro lens :)
check it!

the text tutorial for that video is on the website:

Best Regards,
Robert
P.S. My vocal isn't good, but it is so damn hard to add the voice to muted video when You see that there is less and less time.
P.S.S. Some of my photos on sxc are made with this lens and another DIY project (tutorial will show up soon) - extension tubes - they helps to achieve greater magnification.

I just couldn't find any materials so I went ahead and paid the $60 for a set of three macro conversion lens for my non-slr camera. This blog and your photos influenced my decision to buy. ~Cris

I love those DIY projects! Your results are great and I have to try it too. :) It shouldn't be hard to find an old camera for a "donor".
Thanks for the tutorial!

Just checked on ebay, looks to be about £15 for the camera at the moment... I'm tempted to give it a go.

Always cool to see DIY photo lenses.
Found this tut awhile ago on another site. Also I used an extension for taking shots far away from the subjects to not disturb them...

This is super! I think a Japanese screw punch might be easier to use than a drill, or perhaps just easier for me since I'm used to it.
Of course if you don't have a Japanese screw punch, you would spend all the money you saved on the macro lens buying one.
Anyway, just a thought. Thanks so much for showing me how to make this lens, I have uh, several donor bodies to use. :)
