A full-fledged camera it's not

posted by jzlomek, Nov 6, 2007 3:33 PM — 1 comments

The usual problems surfaced. Shooting action was impossible: light was poor, and shutter speed was incredibly slow. Shooting from a distance was impossible: even at 2x telephoto (the only other lens setting is "normal"), all images look tiny in a cavernous arena when the photographer's butt is in the nosebleed seats. And for reasons I don't understand, the photos I took all had a cool blue cast to them. Of course, this is why God gave us photo correction software.

We had a fun time, nonetheless. The band was terrific, my wife is always great company, the hotel was comfortable, and -- despite the jokes made at its expense -- Newark is a pleasant (albeit not pretty) city.

I hate when people say that "professional cameras" are not allowed. Augh!

As to the blue cast, that was from the light sensor in the camera picking up the stadium lights and adjusting the contrast on you. Not an uncommon thing, we dealt with the same thing when we took photographs at a hockey game from the upper-deck.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
