Ultra High Speed Flash Trick
posted by tdenham, Oct 21, 2006 4:28 PM — 4 commentsUsing this trick and an external flash, any camera that can be set to manual mode can take very high speed flash photos.

Selective Photoshop Sharpening
posted by tdenham, May 29, 2006 9:41 PM — 18 comments
Have you ever wanted to sharpen just parts of a photo in Photoshop and not the entire photo? For example, if you are sharpening a photo of a person's face it may be better sharpen the eyes and mouth, and avoid a common problem of oversharpening the hair or other parts that may look worse if sharpened. Another side effect can be seen in a photo that shows the sky (or parts of the sky). The sky will normally gain lots of noise if sharpened and never really needs it. Avoiding the sky when sharpening an image can really enhance your photos.
Using the method I describe here will let you be more in control of enhancing your photos and will help you make more pleasing photos in a fairly straight forward, fun and simple way.
