1. Nov 21, 2002 2:36 PM wrecker | I'm not sure how feasible this is or if it would just encourage people to abuse it, but I was thinking that a "requests" section would be a nice addition. There are some photos that people just might not be able to take themselves, due to lack of equipment or lack of subject matter or maybe just lake of imagination. And as much as I hate ratios (upload one photo to download one photo), some kind of sytstem like that might have to be implemented or else it would turn into a huge list of "gimme gimme gimme". Does anyone have any suggestions on how a requests section would work, and work well? More importantly, would anyone be willing to fill requests? Just a thought. |
![]() 2. Nov 21, 2002 3:13 PM admin | You were faster - we've just wanted to create a site request topic... :) This wish list section idea is good, several people mentioned that it would be good to have it on the site. |
3. Nov 21, 2002 5:24 PM powderbloo | i think a requests section would be a great idea - i wud defiantely use it living in new york city i have much rich imagery to use but i also lack so much - i have numerous tall buildings, gritty streets, 'unusual' people to take photos of - but where are the fields, lakes, mountains i may need ? it would be interesting to have an image in my mind - put a request out for that image - and see how my thoughts on screen are interpreted by other people into a photo |
4. Nov 21, 2002 7:16 PM rorshack | A good idea would be to list all keywords searched with no results... e.g, someone looks for "stained glass" and founds 0 results. Then that word could be automatically added to a "needed" list (maybe with a list of how many times it was searched)... so anyone could browse the list and see what's really needed. - zeh |
![]() 5. Nov 22, 2002 12:07 PM Drez | My really old suggestion; the statistics on the mail page should be links. 1354818 total downloads 8634 registered users - (Members browser, with stats of each member) 8410 photos online - (List all categories, all photos) 318 waiting for evaluation - (Maybe previews, and pre-rating, helpful for the admin) 99 new photos today - (Recent photos) |
6. Nov 22, 2002 3:44 PM idv2 | zeh, that's a good idea - but... i think it should feed the words to the admin, so they can weed-out the corny searchs like, 'yo mama', or 'crack babies', or anything else that someone will enter when they're bored and surfing... basically, it's similar to a faq engine... |
![]() 7. Nov 22, 2002 7:53 PM mexikids | great ideas! adding to the list - as someone who uploads photos - i'd like to request that there be a way to alter one's own photos' title and/or description fields. I've uploaded pics and then - once they are published - realize i screwed up and put the wrong title or description. like the photo of a beautiful field of wildflowers with "NYC from 14,000 feet up in an airplane" - oops. Right now, there no way to change that. I don't know how you would do this, since someone could abuse it and change the text of their photo to "your mama s*cks" |
![]() 8. Nov 23, 2002 4:52 AM NoShoes | It would be great to see when each photo was sumitted displayed next to each image! This forum sould really liven the place up a bit! |
9. Nov 23, 2002 11:49 PM kriegs | i really like the request idea, id try to help people out that way instead of uploading photos, you actually upload ones people are looking for..... |
10. Nov 24, 2002 12:10 AM chelle2008 | I would like to see an art gallery... where people can upload things they have created using the stock photos. Not for download purposes, just for viewing pleasure :) |
11. Nov 25, 2002 11:02 AM TWS | rorshack:) I said the same to hp (word by word :) Imho this will be the most useful, but there should be a word filter also (to avoid bad words) |
![]() 12. Nov 25, 2002 5:55 PM admin | good ideas, keep them coming if you have more :) |
13. Nov 26, 2002 8:48 PM rorshack | tws: cool. yep, I hadn't though too much about it... a filter for bad words or an admin approval of some sorts would be a needed addition to it. - zeh |
14. Nov 27, 2002 6:05 PM kriegs | maybe a way to leave a message for a photographer or a prive message system?? Id like to say thanks to some people who comment.... |
![]() 15. Nov 28, 2002 6:15 PM Pat-swan | A few people have suggested a filter for profanities etc. I dont think a creative website such as this has any need for American style censorship, i.e. anything which doesnt square with traditional WASP values. We have enough blandisms on the TV kids, we dont need them here in the wonderfull world of the Internet. P.s. why isn't Orwells 1984 required reading at schools yet. Thats it. Thanks. |
![]() 16. Nov 28, 2002 7:19 PM mammuth | re 15: i agree |
![]() 17. Nov 28, 2002 7:21 PM iraszl | why the 1000kb maximum? |
![]() 18. Nov 28, 2002 9:04 PM NoShoes | Let me be another to suggest keepin the site classy by censoring unessesary material. It is plain ignorant to want a photo stock site that would happily post material with profanity. America has done just fine with the style it has thank you. As far as requireing some one to read anything it's a bad idea. That's my position and boy am I right about this one. Thank you for your kind attention. Billy |
19. Nov 28, 2002 11:28 PM ckrissie | I think that what pat-swan meant is that what is seen as "offensive" in America is often not seen that way in Europe. i agree with you NoShoes: you cannot post anything you like: porn, racist stuffs etc..., but then where is the limit? I think that common sense should prevail. Keep it classy indeed but no need to be uptight neither! |
![]() 20. Nov 29, 2002 1:32 AM NoShoes | Thank you for being a peace maker ckrissie. You are right about the differences in attitudes and social norms. I appreciate your conscern. |
